What AI tools answer when a farm operator looks for a system

One name occupies two thirds of responses, while second place is below one fifth

Aegro appears in 65 of the 98 responses. The runner-up, Climate FieldView, appears in 19. That is a 47-percentage-point gap, the largest distance between first and second in every study we have conducted. There are 24 different systems cited in total and 247 mentions combined, but one name alone accounts for more than a quarter of them.

Appearing is one thing; being the first name is another

AI tools almost never answer with just one system: there are 2.5 names per response on average. That is why where a name enters the list matters as much as whether it appears. Aegro is the name that most often opens the list, with an average position of 1.2. Siagri is at the other extreme: it appears in 11 responses and enters at an average position of 3.2, after the reader has already passed other names.

Here the concentration appears again, and more strongly. The leader is not only the most cited: it enters at an average position of 1.2, so it is almost always the first name the reader sees. Those in the middle of the table compete for the attention of someone who has already read one name.

Each tool has its own ranking

The same system changes in scale depending on where it is asked about. Climate FieldView is the strongest case: it appears in 36% of Claude’s responses and 4% of Google’s. That is a 32-percentage-point gap between its best and worst tool. For anyone outside the top positions, that means there is a tool where they can compete and a tool where they cannot.

Being read by the AI tool almost guarantees being cited by it.

In 47 of the 98 responses, it is possible to see which sites the tool consulted. There were 105 different sites, and the most used was aegro.com.br, Aegro’s site, in 15 of the 47. Among the ten most-used sites, 6 belong to the systems measured and 4 are outside sources, such as agrofounder.com and apps.apple.com.

What the tool reads shows up in what it writes: when the system’s site was consulted, its name appeared in the response 94% of the time. When it was not consulted, the name appeared in 7%. It is worth separating from the rest what appears in the text without competing for the system subscription: John Deere and Trimble manufacture agricultural machinery. They were measured and remain outside the table. Their software exists, but it is an accessory to the machines they sell, not a management system contracted separately. John Deere appears in 8 of the 98 responses because of autopilot and telemetry.

The concentration does not change with the question category

The 25 questions were written across four categories: general recommendation, property size or segment, system feature and informational. The leader tops all four, by a wide margin in three. In the broadest category, the 23 responses to people asking only which is best, Aegro appears in 74% and the runner-up, MyFarm, in 35%.

The only visible opening is in the informational category, for people still learning how to buy: there the leader falls to one third of responses and names that appear nowhere else rise into the list. It is the question of someone who does not yet have a provider in mind.

How we measure

• We asked the 25 questions in 4 tools, once each, in September 2026. That would make 100 responses; we retained 98. Perplexity produced 23 of the 25: 2 captures failed. Each question was asked in a clean window, in a temporary conversation with no history, from an IP in Brazil. We saved a screenshot of every one.
• No question includes a system name. All ask for a recommendation, the way a farm operator asks.
• We count only when the AI tool writes the system’s name in the response. When the name appears only in the list of sites consulted, it does not enter this count: that is a different thing, measured separately in section 04.
• We count only what the tool wrote. Website cards, videos and map listings around the response are excluded, because the AI tool did not choose those names.
• The table’s names came from the responses themselves. We did not start with a ready-made list, so there is no outside system that "should" be there: if it was never cited, it does not appear.
• Each name is counted separately, even when two rows belong to the same company. The table shows the name as the AI tool wrote it. Where the same company is written in two forms, it occupies two rows, because that is how it reaches someone reading the response.

What this study does not say

• Nothing about service quality. What is measured is what AI tools answer, not which system is better to use or who charges less.
• Nothing about how much each thing is searched for. The 25 questions represent how people ask, not a sample weighted by search volume.
• Nothing about what the AI tool answers for you. Responses vary with the previous conversation, region and day. This is a September 2026 snapshot from a clean window.
• Nothing about how to change this result. This material measures; it is not an action plan.
