What AI tools answer when someone looks for online accounting

Two names occupy the answer, with a 30-point drop from second to third

Contabilizei appears in 77 of 99 responses and Agilize in 59. Only these two exceed half. Third place, Contabilidade.com, is at 29, less than half of second place. There are 23 different firms cited in total and 304 mentions combined, but most of that total sits in the first two rows of the table.

Appearing is one thing; being named first is another

AI almost never answers with just one firm: it averages 3.1 names per response. That is why where a name appears matters as much as appearing at all. Contabilizei is named first most often, with an average place of 1.6. Contabilivre is at the other extreme: it appears in 16 responses and enters at 3.9th on average, after the reader has already seen other names.

For firms in the middle of the table, this is where the difference lies between being considered and merely mentioned. A list has a beginning, and anyone arriving at its end competes with names the reader has already seen.

Each tool has its own ranking

The same firm changes in size depending on where the question is asked. Conube is the strongest case: it appears in 48% of ChatGPT responses and 0% of Claude responses. For anyone outside the top positions, this means there are tools where they can compete and tools where they cannot.

Being read by AI almost guarantees being cited by it

In 55 of the 99 responses, it is possible to see which sites the tool consulted. There were 100 different sites, and the most used of all is contabilizei.com.br, Contabilizei’s site, in 20 of the 55. Among the ten most used, 8 are sites of the firms measured and 2 are outside sites, such as negociocerto.org and guiaparapj.com.br.

What the tool reads also appears in what it writes: when the firm’s site was consulted, its name appeared in the response 91% of the time. When it was not consulted, the name appeared in 9%. It is worth separating what appears in the text without competing for the engagement: Conta Azul, Contmatic, Negócio Certo, Nibo and Omie are comparison portals or management software; they were measured and remain outside the table.

On the broadest question, the pair leaves no room

The 25 questions were written in four slices: general recommendations, company profile, specific need and informational. In the broadest slice—the 24 responses to people asking only which is best— Contabilizei appears in 100% and Agilize in 92%. Anyone other than those two barely exists in that question.

What changes between slices happens in the middle of the table, not at the top. For firms outside leading positions, this is where there is an opening: a company profile or need in which AI already cites other names.

How we measure

• We asked the 25 questions in 4 tools, once each, in September 2026. That would yield 100 responses; we retained 99. In Perplexity, 24 of 25 were retained: one capture failed. Each question was asked in a clean window, temporary conversation without history, from an IP in Brazil. We saved every screenshot.
• No question names a firm. All ask for recommendations, as someone seeking to hire one would ask.
• We count only when AI writes the firm’s name in the response. When the name appears only in the list of sites consulted, it does not enter this count: that is something else, measured separately in section 04.
• We count only what the tool wrote. Site cards, videos and map listings around the response are excluded because AI is not choosing the name there.
• The names in the table came from the responses themselves. We did not begin with a ready-made list, so no outside firm ‘should’ be there: if it was not cited once, it does not appear.
• “A primeira contabilidade web do Brasil” does not count as a name: this is how Agilize describes itself, and AI tools repeat the phrase. It was tested and discarded.

What this study does not say

• Nothing about service quality. What is measured is what AI tools answer, not who delivers the best accounting or charges less.
• Nothing about how much each thing is searched. The 25 questions reflect how people ask, not a sample weighted by search volume.
• Nothing about what AI answers for you. Responses vary with the preceding conversation, region and day. This is a September 2026 snapshot in a clean window.
• Nothing about how to change this result. This material measures; it is not an action plan.
