What AIs say when a law firm looks for software

25 questions asked in 4 AI tools, with 99 responses saved as screenshots. No question names a system: these are the questions a lawyer types before signing with a provider.

This study does not pick a winner. The count is the same for everyone: the name is written in the response or it is not. Anyone that appeared zero times is not on this page, and no company commissioned, reviewed, or paid for this study.

01 · who appears

Four names above half, and nearly five per response

This is the most crowded industry we measured. On average, the AI writes 4.9 names per response, and four of them appear in more than half of the 99: Astrea in 68, Projuris in 56, ADVBOX in 50, and Projuris ADV in 50. There are 18 percentage points from first to fourth. In total, 26 different names were cited, for 490 mentions combined.

A leaderboard like this means no one owns the answer. The firm asking receives a list, not a recommendation.

How to read this. The second column shows how many responses the name appeared in. The third is the share that system takes of everything cited: the 26 systems add up to 490 mentions, and this column divides that total. The fourth is where in the list the name tends to appear: 1.0 would mean it is always the first name.
02 · order within the response

Appearing is one thing; being the first name is another

The AI almost never responds with just one system: it averages 4.9 names per response. That is why where a name comes in matters as much as appearing at all. Astrea is the one that most often opens the list, with an average position of 1.9. SAJ ADV is at the other extreme: it appears in 13 responses and comes in at an average position of 6.8, after the reader has already gone through other names.

With five names per response, this column matters more here than in any other industry we measured. Being fifth in a list of five is appearing without being read.

03 · one tool is not another

Each tool has its own ranking

The same system changes in scale depending on where the question is asked. Aurum is the strongest case: it appears in 76% of Claude responses and 21% of Perplexity responses. That is a 55-point difference between its best and worst tool. For anyone outside the top, this means there are tools where there is room to compete and tools where there is not.

04 · where the answer comes from

Being read by the AI almost guarantees being cited by it

In 50 of the 99 responses, it is possible to see which websites the tool consulted. There were 78 different sites, and the most used of all is projuris.com.br, Projuris ADV's website, in 17 of the 50. Of the ten most used, 7 are websites of the systems measured themselves and 3 are external, such as asquadz.ai and marketingadvogadosbrasil.com.br.

And what the tool reads appears in what it writes: when the system's website was consulted, its name appeared in the response 84% of the time. When it was not consulted, the name appeared 17% of the time. It is worth separating what appears in the text without competing for the system subscription: Cálculo Jurídico, Escavador, Judit, Jurídico AI, Jusbrasil, Previdenciarista, and Turivius are databases and legal-research tools. They were measured and are outside the table. They appear because almost every question touches on court-record lookup or legal analytics, not because they sell law-firm management. Jusbrasil is the most cited of them, in 9 of the 99 responses.

05 · the question segment

In the broadest question, the leader appears in nearly every response

The 25 questions were written across four segments: general recommendation, by law-firm size, by system feature, and informational. In the broadest segment, the 23 responses from people who only ask which is best, Astrea appears in 96% and Projuris ADV in 83%.

question segment1st2nd3rd4th
general recommendation 23 responsesAstrea 96%Projuris ADV 83%ADVBOX 78%Projuris 70%
by law-firm size 8 responsesAstrea 75%Projuris 75%ADVBOX 62%Aurum 62%
by system feature 48 responsesAstrea 69%Projuris 54%Aurum 48%Projuris ADV 48%
informational 20 responsesProjuris 40%Astrea 35%ADVBOX 30%Aurum 15%

The picture changes in the informational segment, for people still learning how to buy: there, the order reverses and the top names fall to one-third of responses. It also changes in the feature segment, the page's largest: systems with a specific, well-documented function appear there without being at the overall top.

06 · how we measured

How we measured

  • We asked the 25 questions in 4 tools, once each, in September 2026. That would make 100 responses; we ended up with 99. Perplexity produced 24 of 25: one capture failed. Each question was asked in a clean window, in a temporary conversation with no history, from an IP in Brazil. We saved a screenshot of every one.
  • No question includes the name of a system. All ask for a recommendation, the way a law-firm owner asks.
  • We count only when the AI writes the system's name in the response. When the name appears only in the list of sites consulted, it is not included in this count: it is a different thing, measured separately in section 04.
  • We count only what the tool wrote. Website cards, videos, and map listings that appear around the response are excluded, because the AI is not choosing the name there.
  • The names in the table came from the responses themselves. We did not start from a ready-made list, so there is no outside system that "should" be there: if it was not cited even once, it does not appear.
  • Each name is counted separately, even when two rows belong to the same company. The table shows the name as the AI wrote it. Where the same company is written in two ways, it occupies two rows, because that is how it reaches the person reading the response.
07 · limits

What this study does not say

  • Nothing about service quality. What is measured is what AIs answer, not which system is better to use or who charges less.
  • Nothing about how much each thing is searched for. The 25 questions are the way people ask, not a sample weighted by search volume.
  • Nothing about what the AI answers for you. Responses vary with the prior conversation, the region, and the day. This is a snapshot from September 2026, in a clean window.
  • Nothing about how to change this result. This material measures; it is not an action plan.
